19 Months

 

Ella at 19 months is head-over-heels-in-love with Elmo. She can spot him a mile away and asks to see him a lot (watch “Elmo’s Potty Time” dvd). It’s pretty funny that we don’t have cable, but she still knows Elmo! Matt isn’t thrilled about this love. Me on the other hand… I think it’s kind of cute.

Ella at 19 months is afraid of the potty. She alerts us to when she needs to poo and she cannot stand a wet diaper, but she just will not sit for longer than 2 seconds on her potty chair. We’re reading several potty books and watch Elmo use the potty in hopes of teaching her that the potty isn’t a scary place. We could use some prayers. =)

Ella at 19 months is a helper. If she sees us taking laundry to the washing machine, she picks up as big of an armful as she can carry and follows right behind us. If she sees us unloading the dishwasher, she’s grabbing whatever she can reach and hands it to us to put away.

Ella at 19 months is in size 24 months/2T. No surprise here.

Ella at 19 months is finally liking apples. She asks for applesauce or an apple almost daily. The biggest breakthrough is that she’ll actually eat the slices of apple. Yay!

Ella at 19 months has 12 teeth that are grown in and 2 more that have just broken through the gums.

Ella at 19 months likes to sing. Her current favorite songs are “Wheels on the Bus”, “Ring Around the Rosy” and “The Ants Go Marching”—because she likes the “boom, boom, boom” part.

Ella at 19 months loves butterflies (or “bys” according to her). She points them out in all of her books and asks us to draw them for her daily.

Ella at 19 months loves pizza, goldfish crackers and yogurt-covered raisins. Don’t get me wrong, she’ll eat just about anything.

Ella at 19 months loves to do somersaults. (With mommy and daddy’s help of course.)

Ella at 19 months loves to pray. Before bedtime (and randomly throughout the day) she has started to request that we pray. Even if I’m in the middle of reading a book, she doesn’t want to wait. She will crawl up in my nap and face me. Then she puts her hands in mine, we close our eyes and we pray.

Ella at 19 months can “meow” like a cat, “tweet tweet” like a bird, “moo” like a cow, “”rrroaarrr” like a lion, “ruff ruff” like a dog, “choo choo” like a train, “baa” like a sheep and “neigh” like a horse.

Ella at 19 months knows that the number 2 comes after the number 1. However, we can’t get her to say “1.” Anytime we ask her to say it, she tells us “2.”

Ella at 19 months is a joy. She continues to make us laugh every day and amazes us at how fast she’s growing up and learning new things. Ella is full of excitement, but also stubborn about getting her way. She is a blessing to our lives and keeps us on our toes.
